# Mainnet 1

Mainnet 1 upgrades the Espresso network to support permissionless participation through delegated proof of stake.

The upgrade goes live on [Decaf testnet](https://docs.espressosys.com/network/releases/testnets/decaf-testnet) April 18, 2025. Mainnet upgrade will follow, date to be announced.
